Multipurpose Drone Competitors

Hey, please post the competitors for the multipurpose drone under this forum thread! Don’t hesitate to post drones with different MTOWs, if you like a system or a feature on a drone with a different MTOW, it is still a competitor!

The drones under this forum thread will be used for competitor studies.

Out of Spec, but I think the design is pretty cool

MADE in USA

Very good parts supplier for folding motor beams and whole frames.
I’m posting here because it can be used to compare cost and weight of the frame.

Found this company that creates drones that are in line with our multipurpose drone. Has a wide array of drones and their specifications. We can use these as a good guideline to try and create specifications for our drone. https://www.triaddrones.com/air/.

Structures are made from a combination of carbon fiber and aluminum. Some of the MTOW is above our target, but if we really like a design we can design it to our desired weight.

The flight times seem a little on the lower side but we can discuss what our target flight time is and adjust as required.

One of the designs has a foldable structure which I think may be a cool idea to explore!

Drone Motor Comparison for 55lbs MTOW

Feature Motor 1 (MAD 6215 IPE) Motor 2 (T-Motor P80Ⅲ P) Motor 3 (T-Motor MN505-S IP45) Motor 4 (MAD V505S PRO IPE V3.0) Motor 5 (T-Motor P60) Motor 6 (MAD M6C12 EEE)

System Motor Cost $392 $799.6 $879.2 $864 $647.4 $774

Take away from this is that a motor in the range from 6-12 kg will cost us around 100$. Which means an price advantage for the quadcopter. Hexa is in the middle and octo-coax would be the most expensive. I think if you look at the ESCs and motor mounts you will get a similar price ratio.

I found out that T-Motor and MAD Motor are probably two time expensive than MIAT in same parameters, we should make our choose wisely

Yes I think we can get cheaper options than I have in the table. Makes more sense to do more research once we officially comitted to a certain configuration.
For example MAD 6215 IPE is only $87.8/pc when i inquire over alibaba compared to $98 from the website.

MIAT M8311
Max. Thrust: 10.5 KG
$60

Freerchobby FRC Heavyload 62-15
Max. Thrust: 11.5 kg
$62

Weight breakdown for this drone. I’m disregarding the weight of the spraying options:

MTOW: 28.9 kg

Frame: 3.54 kg
4x Motor (8318 120kV): 4x 0.691 kg = 2.764 kg
4x ESC (Hobbywing XRotor Pro 80A): 4x 0.1229 kg = 0.4916 kg
4x Propeller (32120): 4x 0.464 kg = 1.856 kg
Wiring + FC + miscellaneous items = 1.1484 kg

Total emty weight (Without batteries) = 9.8 kg

Battery weight: 3.1 - 5.2 kg (depending on configuration)

Max. Payload (total MTOW restricted to 25kg): 12.1 - 10 kg (depending on battery weight)

Price in the image is including the propulsion system.
Price for only the frame (center body, folding arms, landing gear) is USD575/set.
